Lovely serene shot, Veronica. This is a typical feature of English landscape design which I learned about in college this week – the lesson started with a clip from Pride and Prej of Colin Firth diving into the lake at Pemberley – you can imagine, that got the attention of the ladies (and some of the men) in the class!
Yes, exactly – Capability Brown and Alexander Pope, and one of only a few Palladian bridges in the world. And I’d never even heard of it before I moved here! x
Gorgeous. Beats Finsbury Park hands down! N x
Well, yes, but you can’t get a decent kebab nearby! x

An idea for your new garden! A Palladian bridge is always a must.
It really is, isn’t it! Now I just have to work out where to put it… I need a landscape architect and a poet to help me realise my vision! x
We’ve yet to go to Prior (No idea why not). The bridge in your photo reminds me of the one at Stow. I wonder if Prior Park was also Lancelot Brown’ed?
Yes it was ‘Browned’, and ‘Poped’. I do like the idea of a poet musing on a garden and making design pronouncements!
