Hidcote is quite manicured, but I loved this combination, which looked quite wild – a climbing rose with sweet peas growing up it. It’s such a great idea that I can’t think why I’ve never seen it done before…

We went back to Hidcote last year after quite a hiatus. Years ago we used to live nearby and therefore visited quite a few times. We had got a bit bored of it, But going back this last time, we were both pleasantly surprised how good it looked. I’m sure it wasn’t just the pause, and that they have genuinely improved the place. We even had a spot of tennis on the court…

I must say I was pretty impressed! But I think Bryan’s Ground edged it for me… We saw the tennis court – lovely setting near the veg patch!
Really amazing combination .
What a great idea, I’ve never thought about putting roses and sweet peas together. I’m going to try it!! Regards, Simon
